Go to the “coaching resource” page on our website. Use the 2026 rulebook links, Scioly.org Test Archives, and ChatGPT to help generate practice questions.
No official training, but you can utilize folders containing previous years’ coach materials. If you really struggle to make lessons, email nvu042@ucr.edu to meet up.
Shared via Google Drive after confirmation. Contains your team document, standard Google Meet link, question space, and practice log. If missing access the week before you start to coach, email Michael and Nam immediately.

The open-ended nature of the competition makes lecturing all content impossible. Practice tests expose students to question varieties and highlight areas where they struggle.
Use icebreaker games and conversation starters. If things are a bit awkward at first, give it some time!
- Introductions (share about yourself). 2. Rules (read rules, discuss experience, set behavior expectations). 3. Lecture (dive into basic concepts right away).
Quiz to review last week’s concepts, student research sharing, standard topic lectures, reviewing homework, team worksheets, or creating study materials (flashcards, mind maps).

Guide students toward making their own study guides/cheat sheets instead of directly doing it for them, depending on event parameters.
